My first post: The Asher Lego Logo
Written by Angela, Posted in Logo
Most times my passion for design is at odds with my most important role as “mom.” However in this lovely moment, I was proud to see them both intersect. See, many times when I am working at my computer and my 6 yr. old son comes up, I try to take the time to talk to him about my work. Usually, I ask him what he thinks, which variations he likes better, why one works more than the other, etc., and we discuss.
Today, however, I was pleased to see Asher working on a little design project of his own. I guess it was only natural after watching mom work on a logo design all week, that he would try to make one of his own. He loves legos, and to my delight, he created his own logo and brought it to me for critique. We, then, discussed the importance of legibility and I helped him re-adjust some of the letters.
Check it out. We decided that Gramma’s textured concrete would make a good backdrop.
Asher, then, decided it would be even cooler if we could use the pool water as the background. After troubleshooting the problem of how to photograph it, with many blurry attempts trying to have minimal hand and no pool sweep in the background, we came up with the brilliant idea to let it float.
It is so fun seeing Asher take an interest in the design process! Here’s to a new generation of designers who have a completely new visual landscape that I could have hardly imagined when I was a kid.
